Fabulous fall is finally here taking plenty of inspiration from the past and the future. Luxurious textures and glamorous styles made an appearance once more this Fall/Winter. Moreover, the Dolce and Gabbana signature florals (so prevalent last season) still continue to influence.
At Chanel, futuristic pieces took off the runway in galactic prints and metallic colored fabrics. Metallic and sequins in gold and silver is a theme that resonated throughout the runways. However, the “it” color on the catwalk was red. Whether dresses, separates or outerwear - head to toe in “heart color” is hot this cool season.
Drawing inspiration from the ‘70’s, designers featured everything from plaids to denim in all styles. Ralph Lauren displayed his line almost entirely in check suiting while others showed glittery plaid evening gowns. Glammed-up patchwork and quilting designs at Calvin Klein and Alexander McQueen was another fad hard to ignore.
And, let’s not forget textures. Reminiscent of a more opulent era, tactile textures such as feathers, furs, fringes and heavy knit sweaters were also prominent on the runway. Last but not least, wide belts and large handbags were the accessories of the moment.
Needless to say, there are many styles to indulge in when it comes to fashion this fall. The vintage revival with an upscale touch and metallic futuristic trends, are great news for the savvy (vintage and pre-owned) luxury shopper.
